White Sox Injury Update: Adam Eaton to DL

By on 8/09/2014 08:15:00 PM

The Chicago White Sox lost to the Seattle Mariners on Friday by the score of 4-1. The loss dropped the White Sox to 55-62, fourth in the American League Central. The White Sox lost Adam Eaton in the first inning due to a ribcage injury. Leury Garcia entered the game for Eaton and went 1-for-3. Expect Garcia to see increased playing time in center field until Eaton returns.

Our own Evan Petzold reported that Eaton left  Friday's game against the Seattle Mariners after grounding out to the third baseman to lead off the game. He jogged halfway to first base, then left the game with soreness in his ribs

Scott Merkin, who covers the White Sox for, tweeted the following update on Eaton.
Eaton, in his third Major League season, is batting .304 with a home run and 32 RBI in 94 games this season. Last season with the Diamondbacks, Eaton batted .252 with three home runs and 22 RBI. He is a career .280 hitter with six home runs and 59 RBI in 182 games.
