White Sox Injury Update: Adam Eaton leaves with side discomfort

By on 8/09/2014 10:45:00 AM

Center fielder Adam Eaton was back in the Chicago White Sox starting lineup on Friday against the Seattle Mariners. However, after grounding out to the third baseman to lead off the game he jogged halfway to first and then left the game with soreness in his ribs according to Daryl Van Schouwen from the Sun Times. He was replaced by Leury Garcia.

As our own Evan Petzold reported, Eaton left Wednesday's game against the Texas Rangers with a bruised lower back after crashing into the left field wall at full speed. The X-rays did come back negative.

The 25-year-old has struggled with injuries this season. He has missed all or parts of 25 games, hitting the disabled list with a hamstring injury, leg, ankle and wrist injuries and has a broken bone in the middle finger of his right hand.

Eaton has put together a very respectable season when he has been in the lineup this year. In 94 games he is slashing .304/.370/.401 along with a 3.8 WAR. He has also added one home run and 32 RBI's throughout this season.
