White Sox Injury Update: Jose Abreu dealing with sore ankle

By on 8/20/2014 01:30:00 PM

The Chicago White Sox enter the final game of a series against the Baltimore Orioles coming off a 5-1 loss on Tuesday. With a record of 59-67, the White Sox are fourth in the American League East, 11 1/2 games behind the Kansas City Royals. The White Sox, ninth in the league in runs scored, got their only run on a home run by Jose Abreu, his 32nd of the season. There is a bit of concern about Abreu, who is dealing with a sore ankle.

Daryl Van Schouwen, who covers the White Sox for the Chicago Sun-Times, tweeted the following on Abreu's status.
Expect Paul Konerko to continue to see time at first base until Abreu's ankle feels well enough to enable him to move sufficiently to play the field. Konerko, in his 18th Major League season, is batting .234 with five home runs and 22 RBI.

Abreu, a 27-year old rookie from Cuba, is batting .303 with 32 home runs and 90 RBI this season.
