Yankees Injury Update: Brett Gardner dealing with sore ankle

By on 8/26/2014 05:00:00 PM

Yankees left fielder Brett Gardner will not be in the line up once again Tuesday night as the Yanks start a three game series with the Tigers. Gardner has been out since Sunday.

Gardner has been dealing with a sore ankle, and the Yankees want to make sure he is 100% before adding him back into the line up. He may be available to pinch hit if need be.
Gardner has been huge for the Yankees this year, hitting a career high 15 HRs and has tied his career high in RBIs with 52. He has a slash of .269/.346/.435 and has stolen 19 bases in 23 attempts.

Mark Teixeira makes his return to the line up tonight, hitting Cleanup. The Yankees hope Teixeira can heat up as they try to stay in playoff contention. The Yankees are currently on a 5 game winning streak, and hope to stay hot tonight in Detroit.
