Yankees Injury Update: Brian McCann activated

By on 8/17/2014 03:45:00 PM

The Yankees are 62-59 and are struggling to score runs. Today they were able to add a bit more power into their struggling lineup by activating Brian McCann for the series finale against the Rays.

McCann suffered a concussion on August 8th, after taking a foul tip off the mask. He was placed on the 7-day DL. He returned to the lineup today, hitting sixth.

It's been a down year for McCann and the Yankees, who agreed on a five year deal worth $85 million this off season. Many predicted McCann to be a slugger, hitting near 30 home runs for the Yankees. Instead, he has a slash of .238/.294/.384 with 13 HRs and 29 RBIs. While the Yankees sit seven games back in the east, and four games out of the second wild card.

The Yankees need McCann to get hot in September if they want a realistic chance at the post season.
