49ers Injury Update: Vernon Davis out with back injury

By on 9/29/2014 12:31:00 PM

The 49ers have not had much luck this year when it comes to injuries and their star tight end Vernon Davis. He had to limp to the locker room on Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles, as posted by Michael David Smith from Pro Football Talk.

The tight end injured his lower back in the third quarter. Davis was able to get up and walk off the field on his own, but was having difficulty walking to the locker room. The tight end appeared to be in some substantial pain, and he was ruled out for the rest of the game rather quickly. That is not a good thing for the 49ers tight end.

Davis has been battling injuries pretty much the whole year. The 49ers were happy to have him in the lineup yesterday, but unfortunately he was unable to play the whole game. Davis caught only two passes for eight yards against the Eagles before leaving. For the season, he has nine receptions for 91 yards and two touchdowns.

This current injury looks like a wait-and-see to determine Davis' status moving forward. The 49ers host the Kansas City Chiefs next Sunday. The team is coming off a win and would surely like to keep things rolling in a positive direction. The loss of Davis for any extended time would have a huge impact on their passing game.
