Angels Injury Update: Joe Thatcher expected back soon

By on 9/05/2014 06:30:00 AM

The Los Angeles Angels entered a four-game series against the Minnesota Twins on Thursday with a record of 83-55, first in the American League West. With 24 games remaining in the season, the Angels are in good position to secure a playoff berth last this month. There is good news on the injury front, as reliever Joe Thatcher is expected back soon after being out since August 2.

Our own Darius Austin reported on August 15 that Thatcher was targeting the Oakland series, which starts in a week, for his return after coming out of his walking boot last week.

Jeff Fletcher, who covers the Angles for the Orange County Register, tweeted the following update on Thatcher.
Thatcher, in his eighth Major League season, is 1-1 with a 6.00 ERA in eight appearances for the Angels this season. He made 37 appearances for the Diamondbacks earlier in the season, compiling a record of 1-0 with a 2.63 ERA. In 354 career games with the Padres, Diamondbacks and Angels, Thatcher is 10-13 with a 3.30 ERA.
