Angels Injury Update: Joe Thatcher activated

By on 9/13/2014 10:45:00 AM

The Los Angeles Angels improved to a Major League best 92-55 on the season following a 11-3 win over the Houston Astros on Friday night. The Angels remain on top of the league in runs scored and are a respectable 11th in ERA. The staff got a boost with the return of reliever Joe Thatcher, who has been activated from the disabled list.

I reported on September 5 that Thatcher, who had his walking boot removed the previous week, was expected back with the Angels soon.

Eric Kay tweeted the following update on Thatcher.
The return of Thatcher adds another quality pitcher to the bullpen over the final few weeks of the season. Should he pitch well, he could make the post season roster.

Thatcher, in his eighth Major League season, is 1-1 with a 6.00 ERA in eight appearances for the Angels this season. He made 37 appearances for the Diamondbacks earlier in the season, compiling a record of 1-0 with a 2.63 ERA. In 354 career games with the Padres, Diamondbacks and Angels, Thatcher is 10-13 with a 3.30 ERA.
