Angels Injury Update: Josh Hamilton & Matt Shoemaker confident of playing in ALDS

By on 9/30/2014 08:15:00 PM

Although they were two of the biggest question marks heading into the postseason for the Los Angeles Angels, Josh Hamilton and Matt Shoemaker are certain that they will be playing for the team during the American League Divisional Series.

With the team already without ace pitcher Garrett Richards for the playoffs this is a giant boost to the AL's best team.

While Hamilton has not been the star that he was with Texas since coming over to the Angels, he is still a powerful offensive weapon that can hit the ball a mile. He hit just 10 homers in 89 games this season, but as a former ALCS MVP brings playoff experience to a team that has failed to live up to the postseason hype in recent years.

Shoemaker's news may be even better than the return of Hamilton. Though he had only pitched in one game before this season, Shoemaker has been incredible this year. Since Richards has gone down, he has stepped in and pitched like an ace. In 20 starts, he is 16-4 with a 3.04 ERA.  Saying that he feels like he could throw 100 pitches in a game is some of the best news that could be heard in Los Angeles coming off of his oblique injury.
