Astros Injury Update: George Springer still trying to return this season

By on 9/15/2014 06:00:00 PM

Were it not for injuries, the Houston Astros' star rookie outfielder George Springer would be in consideration for Rookie of the Year. Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle has reported that Springer has run the bases recently and is hopeful for a return.
He attempted a comeback earlier in the season from his left quad injury, only to be halted by a setback on August 6th.

When he is healthy and available, he instantly becomes the team's biggest run producing threat.  After having a near 40-40 season in the minor leagues in 2013, Springer came out swinging after his major league callup.  Although he batted just .231 through his first 78 games, he launched 20 home runs and 51 RBIs.  After early struggles, he made the adjustment and was able to be on base consistently.

His return would provide a spark for a Houston franchise that has looked for hope for years.
