Bears Injury Update: Roberto Garza, Matt Slauson

By on 9/07/2014 09:39:00 PM

Not only was it tough on the Chicago Bears losing to the Buffalo Bills, but it was very tough on the offensive line with both Roberto Garza and Matt Slauson suffering lower leg injuries in week one.

According to Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk:

Center Roberto Garza and guard Matt Slauson(pictured) each have ankle injuries.  Per multiple reports, they’ll have MRI examinations on Monday to determine the extent of the injuries.

To start the second half, Michael Ola and Brian de la Fuente took over at guard and center. Although both performed admirably, losing two offensive lineman was not in the Bears game plan. With only eight offensive lineman on the 53-man roster, losing 40% of the starting offensive line and 25% of their active lineman could be a problem going forward.

With a newly paid Jay Cutler and big weapons in Matt Forte, Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall, the big men up front will be relied upon to allow to the big name weapons to succeed.

Both were listed as questionable after leaving the game in first half, although neither returned after half time and MRI's are scheduled for tomorrow. We will know more following the tests on Monday. Keep up with Sports Injury Alert for additional information as it comes in.
