Bengals Injury Update: AJ Green active for Week 2

By on 9/14/2014 05:06:00 AM

After missing practice on Thursday due to a foot injury, Cincinnati Bengals starting wide receiver A.J. Green is expected to play this Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.

This news was reported by Paul Dehner Jr. via twitter.
Green missed practice Thursday, however he returned to the practice field on Friday fully functional.

According to ProFootball Talk, “After sitting out Thursday’s practice with a foot injury, one of the NFL’s top receivers was reportedly back on the field Friday. Bengals wideout A.J. Green took part in the club’s last major on-field work of the week, according to Paul Dehner Jr. of the Cincinnati Enquirer. Green had been limited on Wednesday before resting on Thursday.”

The strongest part of the Cincinnati offense would definitely have to be their passing offense. In 2013, Green caught 98 of Dalton’s passes for 1,426 yards and 11 touchdowns. Dalton’s 180 targets to Green ranked among tops in the league. Since Green entered the league in 2011 out of the University of Georgia, he has had three straight 1,000-plus yard seasons and two straight seasons with 11 touchdowns.

Having him healthy this week against the Atlanta Falcons is going to be crucial for a Bengals win considering his huge role in the passing offense. Marvin Jones and Giovani Bernard will also be vital, however Green's presence is probably the biggest for Cincy.
