Bengals Injury Update: Tyler Eifert leaves game with injury

By on 9/07/2014 01:37:00 PM

Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert was injured in the first quarter of the team's matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.

Eifert caught a pass from quarterback Andy Dalton and scrambled for extra yards, injuring his elbow when he hit the ground. The second year tight-end was expected to be a major factor in new offensive coordinator Hue Jackson's offense.

A first round selection in the 2013 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame, Eifert tallied 445 yards on 44 catches with two touchdowns in his rookie season. Eifert hauled in five passes for 66 yards in a 20-10 Bengals victory over the Steelers last September.

WCPO-Cincinnati reporter Jason Law has a screenshot of the injury on his Twitter feed (WARNING: not for the squeamish). We will update this post with more information as it becomes available.

UPDATE 1 (1:40 PM): Paul Dehner Jr. has the official report from the Bengals. The team confirms it is a right elbow injury and Eifert's return is doubtful.
