Bills Injury Update: Sammy Watkins' health big question

By on 9/02/2014 07:00:00 AM

Sammy Watkins’ health has become the topic of concern yet again. The Buffalo Bills rookie injured his ribs during the team’s preseason finale against the Detroit Lions last Thursday. This is the second time this preseason that Watkins has been forced to leave a game early; the first coming in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

As reported by Mike Florio of, at this point the Bills are unclear on whether or not Watkins will play during the team’s season opener. With an injury like this, practice and conditioning are out of the question.

The Bills must have thought highly of Sammy, selecting him fourth overall from Clemson in the 2014 NFL draft. But can you really blame them? Not only did Watkins help his team win the Orange Bowl, his record-setting game helped him earn the MVP as well. He is the kind of player that can change the culture of a team, something that Bills fans sorely need.

The Buffalo Bills begin their season this Sunday when they face off against the Chicago Bears.
