Blue Jays Injury Update: Brett Lawrie transferred to 60-day DL

The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday by the score of 8-2. The win improved the Blue Jays to 70-67, third in the American League East. With 25 games remaining, the Blue Jays are still within striking distance in the wild card race. On the injury front, infielder Brett Lawrie has been transferred to the 60-day disabled list, ending his 2014 season.

Our own Keri Carbaugh reported on August 7 that Lawrie was placed on the disabled list with an oblique strain, just a few days after being activated after a long stint on the disabled list with a fractured finger.

Chris Towers of reported that Lawrie was transferred to the 60-day disabled list on Tuesday. He was out since August 5 as a result of an oblique strain. The latest move brings and end to Lawrie's season.

Lawrie, in his fourth Major League season, is batting .247 with 12 home runs and 38 RBI this season.  He's set a career high in home runs and is 11 RBI away from a career high in RBI. In 344 career games, Lawrie has a batting average of .264 with 43 home runs and 157 RBI.
