Blue Jays Injury Update: Edwin Encarnacion undergoes precautionary MRI

The Toronto Blue Jays dropped to 77-76 on the season following a 5-3 loss to the New York Yankees on Friday night. With just nine games remaining in the season, the Blue Jays are six and a half games back in the wild card race. On the injury front, Edwin Encarnacion underwent a precautionary MRI on his back. His back appeared to be fine during the game, as launched a two-run home run in the first inning.

Richard Griffin, who covers the Blue Jays for the Toronto Star, tweeted the following on Encarnacion prior to last night's game.
Encarnacion, in his 10th Major League season, is batting .262 with 33 home runs and 89 RBI this season. His best season was in 2012 when he had 42 home runs, 110 RBI and a .280 batting average. The veteran has played for the Reds and Blue Jays and has a career batting average of .265 with 228 home runs and 695 RBI.
