Braves Injury Update: Evan Gattis still out Monday

By on 9/15/2014 05:45:00 PM

As the Atlanta Braves' season continues to spiral out of control, their slugging catcher Evan Gattis is still on the sideline with strep throat.  He is not in the lineup today and Kevin McAlpin is reporting that he is going to see doctors again to discover why he is still feeling symptoms.
With the Braves reaching a point in the season where every game is becoming must win, they need their power hitting catcher in the lineup as soon as possible.

This season in 102 games, Gattis has 22 home runs and 52 RBIs with a .270 batting average. He has proven that last year's strong rookie campaign was no fluke.

The 23 year old Christian Bethancourt has seen the majority of playing time in Gattis' absence.  Bethancourt is a top catching prospect, who has a great glove, but he does not provide the same power that Gattis brings at the plate.
