Braves Injury Update: Mike Minor shut down with shoulder inflammation

By on 9/23/2014 08:45:00 PM

As we reported, Braves left-hander Mike Minor left Saturday night's start with left shoulder discomfort. Now we hear from Michael Cunningham of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that although an MRI showed no structural damage, his final scheduled start (Thursday) will be taken by David Hale.

Minor's spring training began late due to illness, and he was shut down in mid-February with shoulder issues, coming off the DL on  May 2. Minor will finish the season 6-12 in 25 starts, with a 4.77 ERA (76 ERA+) and 120 strikeouts in 145.1 innings.

Mike Minor

Minor was the Braves' first round draft pick (7th overall) in 2009 and made his debut August 9, 2010. His best year was 2013, when he went 13-9 with a 3.21 ERA (117 ERA+) in 32 starts, striking out 181 in 204.2 innings. Minor is in his first arbitration year (Super 2) at $3.85 million and under team control through 2017.
