Brewers Injury Update: Jeff Bianchi transferred to 60-day DL

By on 9/01/2014 09:00:00 PM

The Milwaukee Brewers have placed utility infielder Jeff Bianchi on the 60-day disabled list.
R.J. White from CBSsports.com is reporting that he got a second opinion on his sore elbow and his status has not changed.

Bianchi, who was the 50th selection of the 2005 draft by the Kansas City Royals had Tommy John Surgery in his career. But his most recent injury does not appear to require the surgery again.

Overall in his career, he has greatly underachieved.  In 2013, Bianchi was able to hold down the main utility role with the Brewers, however this season, he struggled from the start at the plate and eventually lost his job to Elian Herrera.  In 70 at-bats, Bianchi had 12 hits and a .171 batting average.

As the last Brewer to make the roster out of spring training, he will need to find a way to play himself back on the field when he gets the opportunity.
