Brewers Injury Update: Ryan Braun back in lineup Thursday

By on 9/12/2014 06:15:00 AM

In a wild night at Miller Park, Milwaukee Brewers star left fielder Ryan Braun was back in the lineup and showed he was healthy right away by hitting a home run in his first at-bat.

Braun has battled a reccurring thumb injury all season that has kept him in and out of the lineup, but DJ Short of Hardball Talk reports that manager Ron Roenicke says he has a full-blown hand injury.

Through the whole season, this injury has not allowed Braun to swing at full strength and hampered his ability to continually pull the ball because he cannot extend.

Though he leads the team in RBIs and has now hit 19 homers, Braun is in the midst of the worst season of his career.

When healthy he could be one of the best players in the game today, but when hampered by injury he has become not much more than an average player.

In the recent past, Braun has consistently been able to come through with big hits when needed. As the Brewers attempt to get back into the playoff race, Braun's bat will be a part of their success.
