Brewers Injury Update: Ryan Braun to have thumb procedure Thursday

By on 9/28/2014 07:00:00 PM

After the most frustrating season of his major league career, Ryan Braun is set to have a thumb procedure this upcoming Thursday, as reported in the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
With almost every plate appearance, it was evident that the lingering thumb issue was taking away Braun's power. The Milwaukee Brewers will hope that this was the primary reason behind Braun's declining performance.

His end of season numbers, were among the worst of his career in every statical category.  Once viewed as one of the top five players in the game, Braun batted just .268 on the year with 19 home runs and 81 RBIs.  Viewing his spray chart he looked more like a pull hitting left-handed hitter than a power hitting righty.

Braun will enter next season expecting to be fully healthy telling the Journal-Sentinel, "My expectation moving forward is to be the same player I've been over the first seven years of my career and not the way I've played this year."

As the Brewers offense failed to deliver during the slump, Braun was one of the major culprits.  A healthy Braun could be just what the team needs to get them back on track next season.
