Broncos Injury Update: Danny Trevathan hopes to return Week 5

By on 9/23/2014 03:00:00 PM

Denver Broncos linebacker Danny Trevathan was expected to miss 6-8 weeks after suffering a fractured left tibia in August, and as the team heads into their bye week he is on the early end of that timetable. He was able to return to practice last Friday, and Trevathan hopes to play in Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Trevathan played all 32 games over his first two seasons, and he started all 16 games at weakside linebacker last season while becoming an integral part of Denver's defense. He was the team's leading tackler (129 total), registered two sacks, forced four fumbles and also tied for the team lead with three interceptions last season, including a critical interception of Tony Romo late in a win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5.

Trevathan was officially listed as questionable for last Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks, but there was virtually no real chance he was going to play. The bye week should allow him to get back to full strength without too much issue, and Trevathan will be a welcome addition to a talent-laden Broncos' defense.
