Buccaneers Injury Update: Mike Evans out 2-3 weeks

By on 9/30/2014 03:19:00 PM

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be without Mike Evans for two to three weeks with a groin injury. This is according to a tweet by Ian Rapoport of @Rapsheet.

As stated in yesterday's Sports Injury Alert
, the first-round pick was injured on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was running a deep route and pulled up lame. As a result, the rookie wide receiver sustained a groin injury. Given a day to examine the injury more thoroughly, the Buccaneers have put a two to three week timetable before Evans could likely return.

This will obviously put a hold on Evans' continued progress in the NFL this year. He was coming off of his best game in which he caught his first touchdown as a professional. The young wide receiver has had to adjust to catching passes from Josh McCown and Mike Glennon, and has handled it very well in the first four games.

The Buccaneers will look forward to getting Evans back on the field as quickly as possible. Evans is definitely in the teams future and hope this is just a minor set-back.
