Buccaneers Injury Update: Mike Evans exits with groin injury

By on 9/29/2014 01:40:00 PM

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers regained four important players back to the team before Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. This was great news, except for the fact that they then subsequently lost two more players after yesterday's game, as reported by Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times.

The two players that were injured are veteran safety, Dashon Goldson, who left the game with an ankle injury and ended up with a boot on his left foot. Veteran player, Major Wright, filled in at safety for the rest of the game.

The second player was seventh-overall pick rookie wide receiver, Mike Evans, who left the game with a groin injury. Evans pulled up lame running a deep route and Steelers cornerback Cortez Allen was able to intercept the pass. The Buccaneers are hoping this will not be a lengthy injury. Evans' groin injury will be further evaluated throughout the week.

"Just a little tweak--it hurt, and I couldn't run. I should have grabbed him so he couldn't get the pick. That's what I was most angry about,"said Evans, who said he didn't know the severity of the injury. The Buccaneers have high hopes for their rookie wide receiver this year. Evans' has 17 receptions for 203 yards and one touchdown.

The wide receiver caught his first NFL touchdown yesterday, and the Buccaneers came back in the closing seconds to defeat the Steelers. What a difference a week can make, since last week when the Buccaneers were destroyed 56-14 by the Atlanta Falcons. The 1-3 Buccaneers have a tough task in Week 5 playing the 1-3 New Orleans Saints in the dome.
