Cardinals Injury Update: Michael Wacha activated

By on 9/05/2014 07:30:00 AM

As October nears the St. Louis Cardinals continue to get closer to full strength with the activation of Michael Wacha on Thursday night.
In his start, Wacha went three innings, allowing one run and three hits in 50 pitches.  He is expected to be eased back into the rotation and be fully ready for a heavy workload by season's end.

Last season, Wacha became a star in the postseason, after going 4-1 with a 2.78 ERA in the regular season.  He was the NLCS MVP by posting a zero ERA in 13 innings and winning two games in the series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.  By the end of the playoffs, he became the team's most counted on arm.

This season, Wacha has been just as good in his regular season starts.  In 15 starts, Wacha has gone 505 with a 2.79 ERA.  His return again gives the Cardinals one of the best rotations in all of the National League.
