Chargers Injury Report: Antonio Gates, Sean Lissemore, Manti T’eo

By on 9/08/2014 02:00:00 PM

The San Diego Chargers only have one player officially listed as out for their season opener Monday night against the Arizona Cardinals, but will have several more important players who will be evaluated closer to game time:

Tight end Antonio Gates was added late to the final injury report after hurting his hamstring during practice Saturday morning and is questionable to play. If Gates can’t play, promising tight end Ladarius Green would likely see more action.

Another one of Phillip Rivers’ key targets, wide receiver Keenan Allen, is dealing with a rib injury, but participated fully in practice and is listed as probable. Everyone else on offense appears to be at full capacity, but San Diego’s defense could be missing two starters.

Defensive tackle Sean Lissemore is questionable as he attempts to recover from a sprained ankle suffered in the Chargers’ third preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks. Starting inside linebacker Manti Te’o is questionable with a foot injury, but participated fully in practice on Saturday

San Diego’s secondary will be without some depth, as third-string cornerback Chris Davis will miss the opener with an ankle injury. Backup safety Jahleel Addae is also questionable with a hamstring injury, but rookie cornerback Jason Verrett is expected to play through a shoulder injury.

Elsewhere, backup defensive end Lawrence Guy is listed as questionable with a shoulder injury, but participated Saturday in practice at full capacity.
