Chargers Injury Report: Melvin Ingram, Brandon Flowers, Jahleel Addae

By on 9/12/2014 07:00:00 PM

Following a disappointing loss to open the season, the San Diego Chargers could be shorthanded on defensive when they welcome the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks on Sunday:

Cornerback Brandon Flowers was added late to the Chargers’ final injury report after suffering a groin injury in practice during the week and is listed as questionable. If the Pro Bowler can’t play, the pressure would be on first-round pick Jason Verrett, who would likely see an increase in playing time.

The Chargers’ secondary will also be without another key player, as safety Jahleel Addae will again be inactive with a hamstring injury. Reserve cornerback and Iron Bowl hero Chris Davis will also miss his second consecutive game with an ankle injury.

Linebacker Melvin Ingram is also questionable after picking up a hamstring injury this week. If Ingram and Flowers can’t play in addition to Addae, San Diego could be in trouble against a dangerous-looking Seattle offense.

Defensive linemen Sean Lissemore and Corey Liguet are both probable with ankle injuries.

San Diego suffered a huge loss earlier in the week when it put starting center Nick Hardwick on season-ending injured reserve, but shouldn’t have any new inactives against the Seahawks. Tight end Antonio Gates has been upgraded to probable this week after playing through a hamstring injury Monday night.

Tackle D.J. Fluker also got a little banged up Week 1, but is listed as probable with ankle and knee injuries. Wide receiver Keenan Allen is on the injury report and listed as probable again with a rib issue, but played at full capacity last week with the same injury.
