Chargers Injury Update: Melvin Ingram placed on short-term IR

By on 9/21/2014 10:00:00 PM

The San Diego Chargers have placed Melvin Ingram on the team’s short-term IR list with a hip injury, as reported by Kevin Patra of Around the NFL. What this means is that Ingram will not be eligible to play again until week 10 against Oakland.

Anyone would agree that when a player goes down with an injury it’s a bad thing, but when you’re playing as well as Ingram was, it makes it that much harder. Following the Chargers’ impressive 30 – 21 win over the Seahawks in week 2, teammate Jarret Johnson said this of Ingram, as reported by Tom Krasovic of UT San Diego:
Best game of his career in my opinion
Despite the injury, hearing his teammates praise his recent play has to provide Melvin with the motivation to come back strong. With this only being his third season in the NFL, it appears that Ingram’s hard work is paying off and as a result he’s gaining the respect of his teammates in the process.

With the Chargers’ most recent 22 -10 win today over the Bills, they now have a small winning streak on their hands. To be honest, if you consider how close their loss to the Cardinals was in week 1, this team could very well be looking at 3 – 0 record. That being said, a two and one record is nothing to complain about, especially coming off back-to-back wins.

The Chargers' next game is scheduled for 4:05 PM EST at Qualcomm Stadium when the Jacksonville Jaguars make their way to town. As long as the Chargers can continue their strong play, I would say the Jags are going to have their hands full.
