Chargers Injury Update: Ryan Mathews out 4-5 weeks

By on 9/16/2014 10:30:00 AM

San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews looks like he will miss a month, maybe more, after injuring his medial collateral ligament during the Chargers upset of the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

As was reported by the associated press:

Coach Mike McCoy won't say how much time Mathews is expected to miss, other than "he'll be out for a little bit of time." McCoy says every player heals differently and "I don't want to put a timetable on anything."
That's bad news for the often injured Matthews and the now 1-1 San Diego Chargers. Although the victory has to be a huge confidence boost, losing Matthews made the day a little less enjoyable. Donald Brown and Danny Woodhead will get the work in the backfield during Matthews absence.
