Chiefs Injury Update: Injuries force roster moves

By on 9/10/2014 09:47:00 PM

The Kansas City Chiefs were dealt a hard blow in week 1, when both Mike DeVito and Derrick Johnson tore their Achilles tendons in a loss to the Tennessee Titans last Sunday. That being said, it shouldn’t be much surprise that on Tuesday the Chiefs announced a handful of roster moves.

As reported by Darin Gantt of, Kansas City has added defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson, wide receiver Dwayne Bowe and linebacker Jerry Franklin. Bowe is returning from the one game suspension he was slapped with for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

In order to make everything gel, the team had to place Daniel Sorensen on waivers, place Johnson and DeVito on the team’s injured reserve list and make numerous changes to the team’s practice squad.

When it comes to the practice squad, the Chiefs signed five players and waived two. The players signed by the team include Armon Binns, Curtis Feigt, Adam Schiltz, Robert Steeples and finally, defensive tackle Jerel Worthy.

Kansas City is slated to take on the Denver Broncos this coming Sunday at 4:25 EST.
