Chiefs Injury Update: Jeff Allen placed on IR

By on 9/13/2014 09:16:00 PM

The Kansas City Chiefs’ last game against the Tennessee Titans has turned out to be their worst nightmare come true. Yesterday, the Chiefs announced that their starting offensive lineman, Jeff Allen, will be placed on the IR and will likely be out for the remainder of the season following surgery to his elbow.

To make matters worse, the Chiefs also lost Derrick Johnson and Mike DeVito to the IR, both suffering Achilles tendons tears during that same loss to the Titans. Much like Allen, both Johnson and DeVito are expected to be out for the season, leaving the Chiefs scrambling for a way to fill the voids left by all three men.

As for Johnson replacement, the Chiefs released this on their Twitter account yesterday.

In the case of Allen, the Chiefs’ Twitter account also confirmed the signing of CB Jamell Fleming after placing Allen on the IR. Fleming was a former third round selection of the Arizona Cardinals in the 2012 NFL Draft.

Kansas City is scheduled to take on the Denver Broncos this Sunday at 4:25 PM EST. Hopefully the Chiefs can get it together in time. If not, Peyton Manning is going to mop the floor with them.
