Cubs Injury Update: Arismendy Alcantara sits again with sprained wrist

By on 9/18/2014 07:00:00 AM

Chicago Cubs rookie Arismendy Alcantara missed action again tonight with his wrist injury from Monday when he crashed into the outfield wall.
He had an MRI earlier today to assess the damage, and Gordon Wittenmyer is reporting that Alcantara said that it is sprained, but very minor. He he also stated that he expects to start swinging and be back in the lineup soon.

While other Cubs rookies may have been meet with more fanfare, Alcantara is proving that he is part of the future as well.  Although he has just a .212 average in 61 games, he has nine home runs and 22 RBIs.  His ability to play both second base and the outfield should keep him in the lineup for a long time.

Although the Cubs have been buried in the bottom of the Central all season, this past month has been a great time for the team and their fans to see the bright future ahead.
