By on 9/19/2014 09:00:00 PM

Cubs catcher Welington Castillo left Friday's 14-5 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the first inning after getting hit in the ribcage by a foul ball (video here and below). He is day-to-day with a left rib contusion, according to Daniel Kramer of Castillo was replaced by September callup Rafael Lopez.

The team sent Castillo to a local hospital for tests and will know the results tomorrow, said Cubs manager Rick Renteria. Castillo, 27, is hitting .238/.299/.382 (OPS+ 88) with 11 homers and 42 RBI in 104 games. He was on the DL for three weeks in June with an inflamed ribcage, and underwent right knee surgery for a torn meniscus in September 2013.
