By on 9/03/2014 10:45:00 AM

The Arizona Diamondbacks lost to the San Diego Padres on Tuesday by the score of 2-1. The loss dropped the Diamondbacks to 57-81, fourth in the National League West. The Diamondbacks got their only run on an RBI single by Miguel Montero in the fifth inning. Brad Ziegler gave up a walk-off home run to Cory Spangenberg to take the loss. On top of the loss, news on Ziegler is that he may need surgery to repair damaged cartilage in his knee.

Nick Piecoro, who covers the Diamondbacks for azcentral sports, tweeted the following on Ziegler.
Ziegler, in his seventh Major League season, is  5-3 with 29 holds and a 3.55 ERA in 67 games.  Although his ERA is respectable, it's the highest of Ziegler's career.  Last season Ziegler was 8-1 with 13 saves and a 2.22 ERA. In 468 career games with the A's and Diamondbacks, Ziegler had a record of 30-18 with a 2.56 ERA.
