Diamondbacks Injury Update: David Peralta out until at least Sept 18

DBacks rookie outfielder David Peralta underwent an MRI on his strained lower back on Friday, according to Zach Buchanan of azcentral.com. Peralta has not played since Sept 5 and will not return Monday as hoped.

Peralta, 26, has hit .293/.326/.461 (OPS 115+) with with seven homers and 34 RBI in 80 games since his debut on June 1, 2014, while playing all three outfield positions.

The lefty hitting and throwing Peralta was originally signed as a pitcher by the St. Louis Cardinals out of Venezuela in 2004, and eventually released in 2009. He played American independent ball as an outfielder starting in 2011, and in June 2013 was signed to a minor-league deal with the Diamondbacks. In 2014, he hit .297 in Double-A, and was called up to the majors when starting centerfielder A.J. Pollock broke his hand. Peralta is pre-arb and under team control through 2019.
