Dodgers Injury Update: Hanley Ramirez returns to lineup

By on 9/19/2014 11:45:00 AM

The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Chicago Cubs on Thursday by the score of 8-4. The win improved the Dodgers to 87-66, first in the National League West. A five-run seventh inning sparked a comeback to get starter Zack Greinke, who allowed four runs in five innings, off the hook. The game also saw the return of Hanley Ramirez to the lineup, who was out with an elbow injury.

I reported on September 17 that Ramirez missed Tuesday's game with a strained right elbow. He was out of the lineup again on Wednesday night.

Ken Gurnick, who covers the Dodgers for, confirmed the return of Ramirez with this tweet.
Ramirez started at shortstop and hit fifth in the lineup on Thursday. He went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two strikeouts.

Ramirez, in his 10th Major League season, is batting .279 with 13 home runs and 69 RBI this season. The veteran shortstop has played for the Red Sox, Marlins and Dodgers and has a career batting average of .300 with 191 home runs, 652 RBI and 261 stolen bases.
