Eagles Injury Update: Jason Kelce suffers abdominal injury

By on 9/23/2014 12:30:00 PM

The Philadelphia Eagles offensive line problems got worse on Sunday in their win against the Washington Redskins. Eagles center Jason Kelce suffered an abdominal injury, making him the third starting offensive lineman to go down for the Eagles.

Eagles Insider tweeted:
Eliot Shorr-Parks of reports:

"I just saw Kelce in the hallway," said Kelly. "He is going to have sports hernia surgery."
Kelly said that he has not yet met with team doctors, so he is unaware on the time frame for Kelce's return. Initial reports suggest that Kelce could miss two months -- and maybe even more -- due to the injury.

With Kelce out, backup center David Molk will take reigns for the time being. That does cause some concern seeing as Molk did not play in the NFL in 2013. The Eagles will need a backup and may need to make a roster move to sign one. It is unlikely they will put Kelce on IR however, as he is not expected to miss the rest of the season. The newly signed Wade Smith could be used as the backup. also reported: "Wade has taken some snaps there," Kelly said. "He was out third center on Sunday. Until I have a time frame though, I don't know what the next step will be." The Eagles should have an update for Kelce's return in the coming weeks.
