Falcons Injury Update: Roddy White

By on 9/17/2014 12:46:00 PM

The Atlanta Falcons' Roddy White missed Tuesday's practice due to a hamstring injury. Falcons' coach Mike Smith is worried about having White rested enough for Thursday night's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, reports Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com.

White has been dealing with a nagging left knee recently, and now the hamstring injury could cause concern for White and the Falcons. "Right now, our goal is to have Roddy as healthy as he can be for the ball game Thursday night," coach Smith said.

The Falcons are 1-1 after losing to the Bengals Sunday and can not afford to lose a productive receiver such as White. His presence on the field always demands respect from opposing defenses.

White played in 133 consecutive games before he was sidelined with a high ankle sprain and hamstring pull in 2013, causing him to miss three games. White, 32, has put up serious numbers throughout his career, accumulating 695 receptions for 9,550 yards for a 13.7 average and 56 touchdowns.

The Falcons need this win Thursday night against Tampa Bay to bounce back from last week's loss. White can definitely be a major contributor in making that happen. The Falcons are currently one game behind the 2-0 Carolina Panthers in the NFC western division.
