Flyers Injury Update: Claude Giroux will be playing tonight against the Rangers

The Philadelphia Flyers have announced that Captain Claude Giroux will take part in his first preseason game while they face the New York Rangers. Giroux has been injured since the start of training camp and says he feels well enough to play.

Giroux injured his lower body during the first day of training camp. General Manager Ron Hextall said that Giroux would probably miss two weeks "due to a tweaked groin muscle." Shortly after the announcement was made, Giroux stepped on the ice with his teammates and took in a full practice.

After practice on Tuesday morning, Giroux said, “If I start thinking about it that’s when something bad happens,”

“We’ll go with (Tuesday) and we’ll go from there. I’m doing my best right now to be the best player I can be for the first game of the season."

“If I didn’t think I was 100 percent I wouldn’t be playing, so I’ve been battling the last few practices, I feel good so I’m going to play.”

Last season with the Philadelphia Flyers, Giroux played 82 games, had 28 goals and 58 assists.
