Flyers Injury Update: Kimmo Timonen doesn't want to retire

By on 9/19/2014 10:30:00 AM

The Philadelphia Flyers held a media conference on Thursday morning with Kimmo Timonen. The meeting was about his future with the team and playing hockey. Timonen is out indefinitely after finding out he has blood clots.

Timonen said that he wants to play hockey again but the chances are very slim. With the blood clots Timonen is on blood thinners to rid the clots but he may not be allowed to get off them (depending how he recovers). If he is not able to get off them he will not be allowed to play in contact sports. It is also said he will not be hitting the ice any time soon.

Apparently blood clots run in his family. His mom and brothers all have them. This could result in him staying on the thinners for the rest of his life.

There is no timeframe yet. They haven't got a proper 'yes' or 'no' answer if he will be able to play.

Timonen will be reevaluated in early 2015 and his future will be revealed then.
