Giants Injury Update: Angel Pagan out Wednesday

By on 9/04/2014 11:45:00 AM

The San Francisco Giants enter a weekend series against the Detroit Tigers on Friday with a record of 76-64, second in the National League West. They Giants are coming off a 9-2 loss to the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday and were without center fielder Angel Pagan due to back stiffness.

As reported by Chris Haft of, just minutes before the start on Wednesday's game against the Rockies, Pagan was scratched.  He had hit safely in 13 of his last 14 games, batting .333 during that time.  Manager Bruce Bochy decided to play it safe and start Juan Perez in Pagan's place.

It's unknown whether or not Pagan will be ready to play on Friday. If he's unable to go, expect Perez to once again get the start.  Perez is batting .179 with a home run and two RBI.

Pagan, in his ninth Major League season, is batting .303 with three home runs and 24 RBI this season. Pagan has played for the Cubs, Mets and Giants and has a career batting average of .284 with 49 home runs and 319 RBI.
