Giants Injury Update: Brandon Belt cleared for baseball activity

By on 9/12/2014 11:15:00 AM

The San Francisco Giants improved to 81-65 on the season following a 6-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday. Hunter Pence had two RBI and Buster Posey had three hits to lead the Giants, who are just two games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West. There is good news on the injury front, as Brandon Belt has been cleared for baseball activity.

Our own Jacob Fagan reported on September 10 that Belt, who has suffered with multiple concussions this season, took ground balls on the field and swings in the batting cage. At the time, it was possible that Belt would be cleared for more activity by the end of the week.

Carl Steward, sportswriter for the Bay Area News Group, San Jose Mercury News, Oakland Tribune and Contra Costa Times, tweeted the following update on Belt.
Belt, in his fourth Major League season, is batting .237 with 11 home runs and 24 RBI. In 409 career games, all with the Giants, Belt is a .268 hitter with 44 home runs and 165 RBI.
