Giants Injury Update: Jon Beason

By on 9/18/2014 02:51:00 PM

The New York Giants and Jon Beason received somewhat good news on Tuesday. The linebacker's foot injury does not appear to be a season-ending injury as some believed could have been the case, as reported by Ebenezer Samuel of the New York Daily News.

The not-so-good news is that the often injured linebacker isn't healthy at this point. The Giants announced Beason had "re-aggravated" the foot injury he had been dealing with in the off-season. Beason will have to undergo a further evaluation moving forward.

Beason, who had returned to playing right before the start of the regular season, was forced to leave Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals in the second half. Beason was seen on the sidelines wearing a very large walking boot. The Giants replaced the middle linebacker with Mark Herzlich for the rest of the game.

Beason had been a very productive linebacker early in his career, putting up great numbers for the Carolina Panthers during a four-year span. The linebacker unfortunately was only able to start one game in 2011 and four games in 2012 due to injuries.

This injury will hurt the Giants defense as Beason, who's return is unclear, is the Giants field general on defense. His experience and defensive knowledge will be hard to replace. The Giants are off to an 0-2 start and need to maintain a positive attitude if they are to compete in the NFC Eastern Division.
