Giants Injury Update: Odell Beckham Jr. has officially been ruled out

By on 9/07/2014 10:47:00 AM

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. was officially ruled out for Monday’s game against the Detroit Lions, per numerous reports.

According to, “Anyone holding out hope New York Giants rookie Odell Beckham Jr. would miraculously play in Week 1 can stop foolishly holding their breath. The No. 13 overall pick in the draft has officially been ruled out of Monday night's game against the Detroit Lions. Beckham has been dealing with a hamstring injury throughout training camp and preseason. He did not practice this week and coach Tom Coughlin previously pegged Beckham as two to three weeks from returning. Considered an NFL-ready route runner, Beckham's nagging injury situation has left a frustrated Coughlin in a permanent state of rouge-face.”

Out of LSU, Beckham was able to catch 141 passes for 2,305 yards and 12 touchdowns through the air (57 catches, 1,117 yards and eight touchdowns during final season), while returning 58 punts for a 9.3 yards per return average and 40 kickoffs for a 25.1 yards per return average.

For the Giants, Beckham’s loss is definitely a big one. Considering the way their offense performed last season, Beckham’s receiving abilities are vital considering the only other receivers the Giants have are Victor Cruz and rookie Jarvis Landry.

Hopefully Backham will be back week two to take on a very talented Cardinals team.
