By on 9/12/2014 10:45:00 AM

The Cleveland Indians improved to 76-69 on the season and stay in the thick of the American League Central race following a doubleheader sweep of the Minnesota Twins on Thursday. Carlos Santana provided the offense, hitting home runs in both games. There was more good news as Mike Aviles, who has been out with concussion-like symptoms, was cleared to play.

I reported on September 10 that Aviles, who was experiencing concussion-like symptoms in the days following a diving catch against the Tigers on September 1, was close to returning to the lineup.

Paul Hoynes, who covers the Indians for, tweeted the following update on Aviles.
Aviles, in his seventh Major League season, is batting .245 with five home runs and 33 RBI this season. The veteran has played for the Royals, Red Sox and Indians and a is career .269 hitter with 53 home runs and 269 RBI.
