By on 9/16/2014 10:00:00 AM

Cleveland Indians second baseman Zach Walters left Monday night's 3-1 loss to the Houston Astros in the sixth inning with a right intercostal strain, the team announced. He was replaced by Justin Sellers.

Zach Walters
Walters, 24, has slashed only .157/.213/.386 (OPS+ 68) in the 27 games since he was acquired from the Washington Nationals. He has, however, hit six homers with ten RBI, including a walk-off on August 13. Prior to the 2014 season, Walters was ranked as the Nats' No. 6 prospect, but despite demonstrating ability to hit Triple-A pitching successfully, Walters has not yet been consistent at the the major league level.
Walters was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in in 2010 (9th round) and traded while a
minor-leaguer to the Nationals in July 2011 for Jason Marquis. At the July 2014 trade deadline the Nationals traded him to Cleveland for Asdrubal Cabrera and cash. Walters is pre-arb and under team control through 2019.
