Jets Injury Update: Rex Ryan expects Eric Decker to play

By on 9/25/2014 12:00:00 PM

Wide receiver Eric Decker was unable to finish the New York Jets' Week 2 game against the Green Bay Packers due to a right hamstring issue, which had his status for last Monday night against the Chicago Bears in doubt. He was active, but left the game after playing just 12 snaps and finished with one catch for 19 yards.

Decker did not practice on Wednesday, but Jets' head coach Rex Ryan believes his top wide receiver will be ready to go for Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions. That optimism is expected, but it still seems unlikely Decker does much, if anything, in practice over the rest of the week.

Decker's hamstring issue has been cited as an aggravation of a training camp injury, but he has insisted he did not suffer a major setback on Monday night. He looks certain to be a game-time decision again this week, and Jeremy Kerley would be New York's No. 1 wide receiver if Decker is unable to play.

Decker's fantasy owners won't have to cross their fingers that he'll be available this week, and thus be concerned about having no other options, since Jets-Lions will kickoff at 1 PM Eastern time on Sunday.
