The goalie injured his right wrist and had surgery in April to repair the torn ligaments. He also sustained an elbow injury. Bishop played with a cast on his hand but he ended up missing a couple of games including the playoffs due to the elbow injury.
Bishop skated at an informal skate last week with his teammates. After the skate he said,
"It's getting there. It's not quite 100 percent yet," "I have a little pad on the blocker now, just easing out of that and getting back to the normal blocker. It feels good to be back in Tampa skating with the guys. Everything else is going well."
Bishop started skating on August 7th. He has been taking some shots. There is still no timetable for his return, or if he will play in the pre-season but Bishop seems confident to make a return for opening night on October 9th against the Florida Panthers.
"We've been doing a lot of different types of rehab. Throwing the baseball, basketball. Just a lot of different stuff to keep your interest because it starts to get old after a while," "It still needs to get a little stronger, but as far as movement and stopping the puck it feels pretty good."
