Lions Injury Update: Calvin Johnson, Joique Bell

By on 9/27/2014 10:28:00 AM

The Detroit Lions list wide receiver Calvin Johnson (ankle) as questionable and running back Joique Bell (knee) as probable for Week 4 against the New York Jets, according to the team's website on

Johnson did not participate in practice on Wednesday and Thurdsday, but was able to have limited participation on Friday.

Bell had limited participation on Wednesday and full participation on Thursday and Friday.

Johnson (Megatron), one of the elite wide receivers in the league, is a major part of the Lions' offense. The star receiver draws defensive attention on every play. Johnson's numbers so far this year are 19 receptions for 329 yards and two touchdowns. The wide receiver has been targeted 34 times in three games.

Bell, who is a nice compliment to fellow running back Reggie Bush, is developing into a nice option for the Lions. The third year running back has 40 attempts for 120 yards and one touchdown. Bell is a threat catching the ball with seven receptions for 66 yards for 9.4 average.

The 2-1 Lions are tied for first place in the NFC north with the Chicago Bears. The Lions' chances of winning greatly improves if both Johnson and Bell are able to play Sunday.
