Mariners Injury Update: Dustin Ackley exits with ankle problem

By on 9/07/2014 10:15:00 AM

In last night's marathon win against the Texas Rangers, Seattle Mariners second baseman Dustin Ackley left with an injured ankle.
While he is not expected to miss much time, manager Lloyd McClendon has stated that he will be out of the lineup today.

Though his career has been up and down after being viewed as one of the top prospects in all of the game, Ackley is a bat that the club cannot afford to lose.  Now an outfielder, Ackley provides power in the Seattle lineup that has lacked punch at times.

Through130 games, Ackley has a .251 batting average with 11 home runs and 40 extra base hits.

As the Mariners cling to a 1.5 game second wild card lead, and hoping to catch the Oakland A's for the first wild card, the Mariners need to be at full strength.  Expect Ackley to be back in the lineup very quickly.
